While our grants may support many ideas, for 2021 the Grants Committee has identified some relevant & contemporary themes and will place particular emphasis on them.
Exploring issues such as work life balance, changes and management of workloads, Covid-19 impacts on working, how our sectors can better support lifelong learning.
Exploring issues around how we can enable all our members to thrive, minimise the impacts of stress and burnout, and support or create better physical, mental or financial wellbeing in the education & public service sectors.
Exploring issues around Te Tiriti understanding and implications, democratic decision-making, gender & pay equity, and giving workers a voice.
For 2021 we are pleased to announce a new “Special Topic” Responding to Climate Change. We are looking for novel and innovative ways to address this significant challenge.
Other topics could include the value of early childhood education, work or industry experience for educators, or retraining for a second career.
Applications open at 9am on 26th April 2021 and close at 5 pm on 9th July 2021. All successful applicants will be notified by the Grants Committee by 23rd August 2021.

Our Union Owners have established a Grants Committee and they will make decisions on the applications and distribution of the grants. They are:
"This programme gives people the opportunity to be drivers of change that they want to see... there are so many brilliant and unique ideas… and initiatives hiding in the minds of people who haven’t had the opportunity to see them through to their true potential. As a union, we’ve always supported members taking action and the grants for good programme is a great chance to facilitate the efforts of our members."
"My hope for this is it will enable teachers to apply for support, for ideas, for creative visions, for things they can do – that wouldn’t necessarily by funded by the more restrictive options that are available in the collective agreement. Even things like exploring art, photography, history, culture - in a slightly different way than the curriculum, that allows you to grow professionally in your subject area"
